Substation artwork polling now CLOSED

Remember Me - substation artwork

UPDATE: VOTING HAS NOW CLOSED. THANK YOU – WE’LL REVEAL THE FINAL DESIGN ON 21 JUNE.

The polls have opened for possibly one of the most important local questions of the year so far: which artwork do you want to see on the front of the new electricity substation in Station Square?! Having run a consultation to garner tidbits of local news, gossip and historical factoids, our talented artist Mr Dane is offering you three options to choose from. These will then be hand painted onto the metal louvres shutters of the substation at 315 Railton Rd.

An interesting array of intel was received with several mentions of local animals as well as suggestions of Herne Hill icons. Each of the artworks comes with a story and a title, which will be hand-painted above the piece like a beautiful shop sign.

Which one will you go for? Votes are open until 11:59pm on 6th June and the final piece will be revealed on 21st June. The artwork is expected to be completed at the beginning of July. Tenants for the empty shops are in the pipeline so once the electricity is on, they should be up and running soon afterwards.

More information is here.

Thanks to The Arch Company for agreeing to fund some art and for letting the public decide.
