The Herne Hill noticeboard website www.hernehill.org.uk was developed in 2014 and since then there have been many changes in the way we interact online. Social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are now hugely popular and other platforms such as Nextdoor.co.uk have sprung up to connect neighbours with each other and checkatrade.com enables people to leave reviews of local tradespeople.
The Herne Hill noticeboard website is now running on out of date software which is increasingly expensive to maintain and update. Functionality on the site is slowly dying a death as many of you have noticed.
All of these factors have led the Herne Hill Forum Committee to decide to take down the current website and replace it with something less labour-intensive and costly. Having asked you for your thoughts via our online survey, we have decided to replace the site with an events calendar to show what’s on locally plus a page that will pull in news and comment from social media platforms that relate to Herne Hill.
Whilst we understand this may be met with dismay by some people, we hope you understand our reasons for doing so and also hope that you will engage with our new website when it’s up and running.
