Frightful Halloween Fun!

We’re back for some more frightful fun! We’re not having a big street party this year but we’ve got lots of fun for your witches and warlocks both on and offline…

Herne Hill Halloween Tent

Come and find us at Herne Hill market on Sunday 31st October at the special Halloween tent by the train station. Get dressed up! There will be creepy crafts to do, a chance to take your photo in a Halloween frame plus prizes to win if you take part in our Herne Hill Halloween Trail. Collect a map from the tent and find the ghosts in the participating shops’ windows. Bring your filled in map back to the tent to claim your prize!

Online Magic Show

Amigos Magic will be performing live magic tricks from Hogwarts Castle at 5:30 pm online. There’s only room in the castle for 100 guests, so arrive ten minutes early to bag a place. If you don’t already have Zoom installed, you can either download and install the app onto your computer before the magic show, or you can join the meeting using a browser. No account is needed but you do need a password to get in – please email info@hernehillforum.org.uk for the password before the 31st.

One of the Hogwarts team will be on patrol to wave their magic wand and make any baddies disappear.

Halloween Bop

Our local friendly witch, Jessica Sparkles, would like children under 7 to join her online for some Halloween fun. Bring a floaty scarf and something to shake if you can. You can tune in anytime!

Competitions

We’re running some spooky competitions to get Herne Hill in the Halloween mood. The categories are as follows:

  1. Creative Costume: we want to see your amazing costumes, the more creative the better. Turn those cereal boxes into creepy robots…make some old tights into a spider outfit.. turn old sheets into bandages…you don’t need to spend money to look frightful! We’ll have prizes for each of the following age ranges: 0-4 years, 5–10 years, 10–14 years.
  2. Best Baking: get baking folks and make some truly horrific edible creations! Sweet Carolina has provided a recipe, or you can use your own. Our judges want to feel sick at the sight of them. We’ll have prizes for each of the following age ranges: 0-4 years, 5–10 years, 10–14 years.
  3. Wonderful Windows: take a walk round Herne Hill and send us a photo of the best Halloween window you can find. Or, why not make your own? We’ll want to know where you took the photo. This one is open to all ages.

The prize is ten Herne Hill Halloween pounds (HHH£10) to spend in participating local shops up until the end of Tuesday 30th November. You can choose whatever you like and can go to more than one of these super shops: Kinder La LaBicycle Nation, Sharp Works, Minus 12o, The Flower Lady, Tales on Moon LaneDuo Dance and Dough Bakehouse.

To enter the competition either share your photo on Twitter (tagging @hernehillforum) or on Instagram (mentioning @hernehillforumofficial) or send it to us on Facebook Messenger (find the Forum on Facebook here) or email us at info@hernehillforum.org.uk.

Tell us which category and age range you are entering, and the location of the decorated window. The deadline for entries is 11:59pm on 2nd November. We’ll decide the winners on 3rd November and will be in touch to ask for your postal address so we can post out the special spooky money to you. Please note: by sharing your photo with us you are allowing us to re-post it on our social media accounts and website.

Good luck! And if you’d like to hear more about what’s happening in Herne Hill, please sign up for our newsletter.
