Tracey Emin to donate signed Olympic Poster to Oxfam shop in Herne Hill
Tracey Emin is to donate a signed copy of her Olympic poster to the charity shop.
This is to replace an embroidered handkerchief by the artist which was stolen from the shop's window display at Christmas. The handkerchief, hand stitched with the words "be faithful to your dreams, Tracey Emin 1999", was kindly donated to Herne Hill's Oxfam shop by a local resident towards the end of last year. It was put on display in the window for £300 but was subsequently stolen on one of the busiest days in the run up to Christmas.
The story was featured in The Standard who contacted Emin to tell her about the theft. "She was really shocked and kindly offered us one of her signed Olympic posters," said Gokcen Erdinc, the Herne Hill Oxfam's shop manager. "Hopefully we'll get it soon and raise good money for Oxfam."
