Meeting date: 22nd April
Where? Herne Hill Baptist Church, Half Moon Lane (corner of Winterbrook Road).
When? 6.55 p.m.
Agenda:
It's the Local Elections Hustings Meeting!
We will be holding the key local elections hustings meeting for Herne Hill (Lambeth), Thurlow Park (Lambeth) and Village Wards (Southwark). All the prospective councillors will be in attendence. It will be run in our unique Herne Hill way to ensure that everyone gets to quiz their prospective councillors and that what gets promised gets recorded for future reference.
Lambeth and Southwark Councils are the public equivalent of billion pound turnover companies. Every four years we get to say who runs them on our behalf. They affect much about our lives, environment, parking, traffic, education, housing, parks, rubbish, youth provision, employment, crime and many other areas.
It would make sense to find out who wants to be our representative on the board of that company. What do they know? What are their priorities? More importantly do they know what your priorities are? The meeting is a unique opprtunity of seeing them all, giving your views to them and listening to how they will tackle the problems.
We will be asking the candidates the questions that you have submitted earlier in the evening. There will then be time to debate the issues between the candidates and the audience to ensure that as many people as possible get to be heard.
TRAFFIC and SPEED
We are very pleased to have a special presentation by the 20's Plenty For Us campaign. It will highlight the issues about speeding traffic in residential roads and what has been achieved elsewhere to reduce this problem. There will be time for questions and answers so that you can find out the best way of achieving change for your street.
SOAPBOX
Address the meeting yourself for 3 minutes on any issue.
