Lido Modern Movement 2012 official promo & late add - live music weather permitting!
The Modern Movement at the Lido is just days away ... will the weather cooperate!??! It seems last year at this time it was dry and warm! See the official MM promo below. Also breaking news is that after their well-received performance at Dulwich Leisure Centre's inaugural Members' Evening last week, Herne Hill's Ingham Swing Ensemble will be on hand lunchtime (between noon and 1pm) on Sunday to play Cole Porter classics outside in the patio of The Lido Cafe. They'll back onto the pool so folks on hand for Modern Movement can listen. See photo of their expanded ensemble below last week at DLC. They'll be doing the likes of 'I Love Paris', 'Night and Day', 'I Get a Kick Out of You', 'I've Got You Under My Skin' and many more. Cole Porter got his start writing his classics in the 1920s just as the original Modern Movement got its start in Paris in the 1920s and spread throughout Europe during the 30s. So it's a good fit for what we hope will be a great weekend.
Status update on the Lido's two pools, Apr 26th
It's a tale of two pools at the Brockwell Lido. Outside, so far so good. Not many swimmers as yet (one report in the changing room this week put water temp at 14 degrees) but the pool is back in action and the Modern Movement is around the corner! Inside, however, no good. The hydrotherapy pool remains down with no restart in sight yet and exasperation all around. It was meant to have been fixed this week but is a long way from this as Fusion attempts to fashion a railing fix to what in essence is a hollow fibreglass vessel (with a lot of lovely blue tiles glued on top) have all failed so far. Perhaps it is time to get in experts from the shipyards - folks who deal with bolting things into fibreglass hulls! Next repair update due on April 28th.

Lido swimming pool all systems go, Lido hydropool remains down
The Lido's swimming pool is open for business! Good to see a few swimmers in today even if the wind outside remains really chilly! Pool hours are weekdays 07.00-13.00 and 16.00-19.00 plus 08.00-18.00 at weekends. Sadly, however, the same can't be said about the Lido's hydropool which has been down for a couple of weeks already due to removal of the loose railing into the pool. This was first reported loose on April 2nd, was finally actioned on the 8th, and workmen came on the 13th. They couldn't repair it, so then took it away for welding. New fix date looks like the 24th. We're aware many of you in the spa are fed up with all of the problems over the past 6-9 months. Let's hope the hydropool is truly sorted this week!

Brockwell Lido (pool) re-opens Friday 20th April
Problems with pool all solved (we hope!). Pool opens this Friday. Opening hours are weekdays 07.00-13.00 and 16.00-19.00 plus 08.00 - 18.00 at weekends.
Lido pool refill well underway - first splash this coming Open Weekend?
This upcoming weekend is scheduled to be an Open Weekend, and there's hope it can also be a first splash weekend too. Still waiting on word. The pool refill is well underway (see adjacent picture taken late Sunday afternoon). So stay tuned for details here, BLU's website, the Brockwell Lido Gym & Spa Users Facebook, or ring the Lido on 020 7274 3088

Lido Pool begins refill/Hydrotherapy pool out of order again
Brockwell Lido's pool began its refill yesterday. According to GRC Filtration's team leader with whom we spoke, work finally finished shortly after Easter and the refill will take "up to two weeks". On the face of it, this means the pool will not be ready for the big open day or The Big Splash. Although it has been raining a bit lately, so that might help speed things up a bit! See photo below taken this afternoon - you can just about see water in there! Elsewhere, you can see no water at all in the Lido hydrotherapy pool, as it is again out of operation. Sounding like a broken record where the hydropool is concerned! However, as we understand it, it is completely drained in order to allow repairmen to come in and fix the loose railing which leads into the pool. See photo below. Saw one "engineer" on site testing the railing at around 2pm this afternoon. One Fusion staff member said he hoped it would be done today so a refill could ensue, but if it is a soak you want, best to ring the Lido first.

Lido Spa Report for Sat. March 17th

Lido disabled bay abuse rampant!
Perhaps the changes afoot for the Lido carpark are not before time as disabled bay violation (aka parking with no displayed badge) seems to have reached epic proportion over the last couple of days! We even photographed a skip in one of the bays. What's it doing there? Hard enough to get disabled parking in the carpark ... then to find a skip in one of them!!

Pay and display Lido carpark on course - just not quite sure when ...
People have wondered what the pink planning app strapped to a post outside of the Lido means for the carpark - a visit to the Lambeth Planning website with the app number revealed that the signs have to do with the new carpark plans ... which will include a £3.50 per hour tariff, with two hours free for Lido users and park users upon proper registration. You can get a look at the signage, maps, and photos at:
